What is regenerative agriculture and why does is matter?
Our farm focuses on regenerative agriculture. This approach focuses on healthy soil as the key building block for healthy animals and nutritious produce.
We use a three field rotational system. One field has produce, one has chickens & cows, and one is allowed to rest with cover crops. Each August we rotate what is on each field. This continuously builds soil health and controls pests, which in turn allows us to user fewer fertilizers and pesticides than if everything stayed in one place.
Healthy soil not only makes business sense, it makes nutritional sense as well. A 2022 NIH study showed that regenerative farming practices lead to more nutrient dense vegetables.
